Alcohol Xanax Detoxification

Rockers In Recovery News Media Website

Asking For Help The 1st Step In Humility

Some of the substances like Alcohol, Suboxone, Heroin, Xanax, Valium, Methadone, Cocaine, and OxyContin withdrawal is a potentially life-threatening detoxification. This can occur in people who have been drinking and using drugs heavily for weeks, months, or years. The spectrum of alcohol withdrawal symptoms ranges from such minor symptoms as insomnia and tremulousness to severe complications such as withdrawal seizures and delirium tremors. Although the history and physical examination usually are sufficient to diagnose alcohol withdrawal, other conditions may present with similar symptoms.

Many drug and alcohol addicts will continue their addictive behavior long after they want to quit, simply to avoid the detox/treatment process and painful symptoms that accompany the withdrawal and rehab. Some even try to detox from their addictions at home, suffering through days of discomfort and violent withdrawal only to go back to abusing drugs and alcohol to relieve the pain.

After a period of detoxification and long-term drug treatment, and without some degree of humility, no alcoholic or addict can stay sober. Nearly all of us have found that unless we were willing to develop – much more – of this precious quality than what was required just for sobriety, we still didn’t stand much chance of becoming truly happy.  Without humility, it’s difficult to find a useful purpose for our lives, or, in adversity, be able to summon the faith that can meet any emergency.” (12&12 P 70) This is no over night matter depending on our degree of mental health issues.

“Where humility had formerly stood for a forced feeding of humble pie, as we began to learn more about this step, and the true meaning of humility, we began to see it as the – nourishing ingredient – which could give us SERENITY. This improved perception of humility started another “revolutionary change” in our outlook. Our eyes began to open to the immense values which come straight out of – painful ego puncturing. We began to “see.” We began to “listen.”

Everywhere we looked, we saw failure and misery transformed, by humility, into priceless assets. We heard story after story of how – humility – brought strength out of weakness, courage out of fear, and gratitude out of self-pity. In every case – pain – had been the price of admission into a new life. But this “admission price” purchased more than we expected. It brought a measure of humility, which we soon discovered to be – a healer of pain. We began to fear pain less, and desire humility more”. (12&12 – P 74, 75)

Our chances as recovering addicts increase for the better (65%) when we participate in programs like Drug/Alcohol treatment, aftercare, therapy, sober and clean fun activities. Places like alcoholics anonymous and narcotics anonymous after detox and treatment will defiantly help long term recovery. You must be  humble enough to ask for help, to follow the direction of an AA or NA sponsor which is there to help you implement the 12 steps in your life.  Sponsors are not in most cases addiction professionals or doctors.  Sponsors in recovery themselves  are there to show you the blue print of the 12 step program only. The newly recovering addict that does none of the above has less then a 10% chance of staying clean long-term.

It takes Humility to start a sober and clean life, and it takes Humility to ask for help.  If you are taking the 1st step in help, or you have relapsed back into active addiction.

Corticotropin-Releasing Factor

What Is CRF and Can It Change The Face of Addiction Treatment?

Corticotropin-ReleasingCRF or Corticotropin-Releasing Factor is a hormone that assists in the regulation of the body’s reaction to stressful situations, activities, emotions and events. Emotional troubles, fight or flight response and physical stress can all trigger this hormone.

CRF is a focal point of the latest research into the manifestation of addictive behavior. Indeed, CRF is released by the brain in order to return the individual to a state of normalcy after a stressful event or even alcohol or drug use. However as the addict continues to consume alcohol or drugs, the brain’s stress response is altered to the point where only continued consumption can relieve these heightened feelings of stress. The substance abuse quite clearly changes the brain’s response, which may lead or contribute to addiction.

The idea that addiction is triggered only by the effects of drugs and alcohol on the reward centers of the brain may not be accurate any longer. And with a new focus comes renewed hope for a novel treatment. The ultimate goal of the research into CRF is to develop pharmacological products to assist those suffering from addiction in quitting. The results of this research should lead the medical community to develop therapies to combat addiction by targeting the stress and anxiety centers of the brain as well.

Ultimately, no matter what advances we achieve in the pharmacological sphere, there is no substitute for qualified and effective treatment. Group and individual therapy is an integral part of the recovery process that can be enhanced and supplemented by pharmacological advances. For now, we hope to learn more about the possibilities of this exciting research and as new information is released we’ll bring it to you at The Academy for Addiction Professionals’ Blog.

Recognizing Video Game and Internet Addiction

Rockers In Recovery News Media Website

By Bethany Winkel –

Imagine that something takes hold of your child’s mind so forcefully that you can’t get through to them any more. Some kids suffer from addiction so severe they don’t want to do anything else all day. Many parents go through this with their child who is a drug addict, but it’s not just drugs that pull kids in so tightly. Today we are talking about computers and kids who are addicted to video games and the Internet.

Losing Control because of a Video Game

The stories may surprise us. Parents seem to lose all control over their child who is addicted to the Internet. The kids will skip school, stay up all night to play, and become violent when their parents try to turn off the computer. While these parents would benefit from learning some parenting techniques to keep from getting to that point, the fact is that the Internet and, in particular, online games are so addicting many people find it hard to stop.

It does not just affect kids and young adults; parents themselves and others have been known to neglect their duties because of Internet addiction. “The Internet and its functions have proved to be overwhelmingly positive, empowering and enjoyable allowing millions to connect, be informed, and entertained like no other technology before,” psychiatrist Philip Tam said. “However, for a small but significant minority this … can lead to social, educational and behavioral difficulties. This particularly seems to appear in young people and in those with predisposing mental/behavioral vulnerabilities.”

Help from the Mental Health Community

Researchers will soon launch an online mental health education program that will help parents wean their child off of their addiction. Other parents have chosen to take their child to a psychiatrist for help.

So many parents are seeking help for their children – inpatient treatment in some extreme cases – that the mental health community is ready to do something about this growing problem. They have named this kind of addiction “pathological Internet misuse”. Now a group of psychiatrists plan to include “video game addiction and Internet addiction” in the next international Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. By labeling the disorder and making it an official condition, the hope is that more people will be aware of it and more studies will be done to determine what to do about this kind of addiction.

Get Help Early

The addiction is real, and just like drug addiction or alcoholism, some people are powerless to overcome it. To prevent this problem, parents should set limits on the amount of time a child can be on the Internet or playing these games. By enforcing the limits and taking away privileges if they are misused, parents can limit the exposure to the sites. Most importantly, if a parent sees that their child is unable to stop, they need to take action or get help quickly to prevent a lasting problem.

Musicians in Distress – Rockers In Recovery Addiction Recovery Network

Rockers In Recovery UnpluggedI founded RIR Addiction Recovery Network, who in my opinion has the absolute best approach to working with addiction in the music industry period. I feel confident saying this because I’ve worked in this field for many years and seen firsthand how to lead addicts along a better path and unfortunately, I’ve also seen companies lead addicts right out the door without even a chance. RIR Addiction Recovery Network fights for every individual to get well, which is why I wanted to introduce RIR Addiction Recovery Network.

Music Industry

I am proud to say that our team is very successful at what we do and the one simple reason, to make it as simple as possible for the musician and their families. We did our best to be a one-stop shop, which in essence meant that when you came to us with a situation, we weren’t going to send you out the door with a bunch of homework, we were going to assess your particular situation and find a solution for you and your family. This obviously made the situation a great deal more bearable for the individual and their family, but also, the employer saved time, stress and money.

It was during this time when I had the good fortune to start RIR Addiction Recovery Network and see the organization had the same goals as many addiction help teams, just on a much grander scale. RIR Addiction Recovery Network is the ultimate one stop shop and has saved countless lives as a result. One of the most difficult situations for an musician to face is working with the music industry and struggling with addiction. These musicians  have a career built on public perception and are far less likely to ask for help than your average person.

Rock-N-Recovery -Rockers In RecoveryThe RIR Addiction Recovery Network is comprised of  music professionals  who have been humbled by personal hurdles in the past and are now in a position to apply their unique wisdom and experience to people in need of help. When I saw how our members of the RIR Addiction Recovery Network team were able to take the one stop shop notion to a level I never imagined and apply multiple services beyond drug and alcohol treatment, but stress, counseling, family therapy, and mental health to name a few, I knew I we could really help a lot of people .

The RIR Addiction Recovery Network team is built with the finest  business leadership from the workforce and a network of the absolute best resources available in the addiction and recovery industry. It only takes one call and not only will you have a solution, but also you’ll have the best possible solution for your specific need and equally important, the needs of your family. This is the finest team I’ve had the good fortune to be a part of   with RIR Addiction Recovery Network,  I have been able to help keep countless families alive and together.

Binge Drinking

Rockers In Recovery News Media Website

Triggers to Binge Drinking

By Bethany Winkel –

There are certain times in our lives that we are more prone to binge drinking. Someone struggling with alcohol abuse or alcoholism should be especially aware of these times and avoid them or find a way to manage their urge to drink.

Binge drinking is defined by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism as a pattern of drinking that brings a person’s blood alcohol concentration to 0.08 grams or above. About 75% of the alcohol consumed by adults in the United States is in the form of binge drinks, and binge drinking can be responsible for accidents, injury, alcohol poisoning, and liver disease, among other things. (1)

The situations listed below are kinds of triggers that for some people, mean it’s time to start binge drinking. There are many other triggers that are specific to individual people, but these situations happen in most everyone’s life and cause many people to drink.

A night out with friends.

Even though we claim peer pressure is a teenage thing, it really can still affect us our entire life. A fun night out with friends is often a time to drink. Even moderately responsible individuals can be tempted to binge drink when out enjoying time with good friends.

After a stressful day.

We are really good at feeling entitled to do things to make us happy. If we suffer through something, we want to reward ourselves. If we feel hurt or wronged, we want to make ourselves feel better. We’re not always good at handling stress and problems in a healthy way. Many of us, instead of relaxing after a hard day in a healthy way, will have a drink or two. When done in moderation this may not be harmful, but for someone prone to alcohol abuse or who is an alcoholic, drinking away one’s stress can be dangerous.

Being alone.

Being alone can have negative consequences on us. There are times when having some peace and quiet are welcome. However, if someone must spend time alone when they don’t want to, it can be a risky time, because loneliness can make us do things we wouldn’t normally do. We might self-medicate our cares away by drinking. The problem with this situation is that there is no one around to see what we are doing or to stop us, and the result is that lonely drinking can be more damaging.

Family gatherings.

People may joke about how hard it is to spend time with family, but for many families this is very true. Even anticipating a family get together can drive some people to drink, because of the stress and dysfunction this time can bring. Other people wait until they are at a family gathering and then negative interactions with family members can cause them to drink.

Binge drinking can cause injury or death, and should be taken seriously. If you or someone you know has a problem with alcohol abuse, consider getting help.

One in Ten Children Raised in Alcoholic Home

Rockers In Recovery - News & Media Website
By Bethany Winkel ;

One in Ten Children Raised in Alcoholic Home. What are we doing to our children? As more and more Americans develop alcohol dependence problems and choose not to get help, more of our country’s children are suffering.

Alcoholic Parents

Parents are the ones who are supposed to protect children, the ones who talk to them about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse, the ones who provide a stable living situation for kids to come home to. But unfortunately, many parents are failing at that task. A new report released by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) paints a bleak picture of family life in the United States. On average, 7.5 million children — about 10.5 percent of the country’s under-18 population — lived with a parent abusing alcohol during any given year between 2005 and 2010. (1) Some 6.1 million children live in two-parent households where one or both parents suffered from alcohol abuse. The remaining 1.4 million lived in a single-parent home where the adult had a drinking problem. (2)

Rockers in Recovery is partnering with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)

Effects of Alcoholism

This means that one in 10 children are being subjected to the effects of alcoholism in their own home. We certainly can’t expect that these children are getting a very good anti-substance abuse message in their home; How can we expect these kids to stay away from alcohol when they are exposed to it every day in their home? Children of alcoholics are at greater risk for anxiety disorders, depression, and academic delay. They are more likely to suffer abuse or neglect, and they are more likely to become alcoholics themselves someday.

Many alcoholic parents feel they are functional and that they are sparing their children from the worst details of alcoholism because they can still hold down a job and put food on the table. This is a serious problem though. No child should have to live with an alcoholic parent, and the prevalence of this, according to the study, is alarming.

SAMHSA Administrator Pamela S. Hyde said, “The enormity of this public health problem goes well beyond these tragic numbers as studies have shown that the children of parents with untreated alcohol disorders are at far greater risk for developing alcohol and other problems later in their lives.” (3)
Helping Children of Alcoholics

“SAMHSA and others are promoting programs that can help those with alcohol disorders find recovery – not only for themselves, but for the sake of their children.  SAMHSA is also playing a key role in national efforts to prevent underage drinking and other forms of alcohol abuse,” Pamela Hyde added. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Rockers In Recovery - News & Media Website

PTSD – Do Something!

As we all sit back and watch the various layers of the U.S. war effort end, it is hard enough for us to conceptually grasp the level of loss and violent despair unfolding each minute for our troops coming home.  Even for family members of soldiers, who risked their lives daily, they may have a different perspective on the madness, but nothing can or will ever compare to the horror each individual soldier has experienced.

PTSD. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

The reason I bring this up is to shed a little light on a situation we are all facing that is certain to explode like a hidden IED, tripped by an unsuspecting soldier. Four letters we’ve all heard before but you better be ready for since they have changed the world we live in…PTSD.  Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a bomb constructed in the middle east as you read this and will be triggered to explode gradually over the next 20 years.  Believe me, if you think I’m being dramatic, watch the approaching explosion and think back to this post.

Military’s powers recognize the the in fact that PTSD exists

Visit for a peek at what we will all be faced with but when you’re reading this, remember that only recently has the the U.S. Military’s powers-that-be begun to recognize the the fact that PTSD exists…that is pathetic and unacceptable. While it is wonderful that it is finally being given credibility, the resources set aside for treatment is a pittance compared to what will be needed. Ironically, each returning veteran will have a ticking PTSD IED inside each one of them that can ‘go off’ at any second. Whether an acute PTSD reaction occurs on the street, at work, at school, at church or at home, you can bet your ass that if WE ALL aren’t equipped with a basic understanding of how to deal with it, we will be suffering as a society for generations to come.

Sadly, PTSD cannot be treated like other behavioral disorders

Sadly, PTSD cannot be treated like other behavioral disorders and daily we hear reports of treatment facilities failing patients and their families on a daily basis by attempting to treat PTSD along with other behaviorally impaired patients…THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE!!!! These individuals and their families need specialized treatments with professionals specifically trained to deal with PTSD. Do the math, with the numbers of returning veterans, we are in for a shit-storm if we don’t get a handle on this thing and the government has its hands full. Remember while searching out help ask the question DO YOU DEAL WITH ADDICTION and PTSD.

Heroin Detox and Treatment

RIR RADIO

Heroin Detox and Treatment

Drugs like OxyContin and other Opiate drugs such morphine, codeine, Dilaudid, methadone are not illegal and don’t carry the same stigma as heroin.  These Opiate drugs are now the new starter drugs that our kids are finding in the family medicine cabinets. Once the supply is gone they move on to street drugs. Heroin an “Opiate” is considered to be one of the most addictive drugs sold illegally today. Next thing you know years later if they are lucky enough not to die or end up in prison.  The now 18-25 year old’s are showing up in opiate detoxs/drug rehabs as full blown Heroin and Opiate addicts after years of abuse.

Heroin Addiction RIR Music Fest

Someone who is addicted to Heroin will go to any length to obtain it. Moreover, when such a person stops taking the drug he or she will suffer serious physical consequences of withdrawal. A detoxification for heroin addiction is usually necessary to get this drug out of the users system. There are many excellent detoxes for Heroin addiction and the drug rehab Center works as part of a treatment network with many of them.

Treatment for Heroin addiction will vary according to the length of time which someone has been addicted , to their physical symptoms and medical condition in general and to whatever other drugs , including alcohol, which they may have been mixing with their use of Heroin. People generally will use heroin in two ways, either snorting or injecting. The first time a person uses Heroin the drug causes a feeling of extreme euphoria ( and sometimes paranoia ) and this is intoxicating. The drug also has noticeable effects on the user physically ; heaviness all over his body, skin flushes, and dry mouth. Heroin also affects the brain of the user including the central nervous system. In truth, Heroin causes symptoms which mimic in many ways those of a person having a mild stroke, such as a very slow gait, and a hard time talking and impaired physical movement of the extremities.

There are also long term consequences of Heroin addiction.

Long time repeated use of Heroin can cause damage to the lungs and weaken the circulatory system. It can also cause clogging of the blood vessels which affects vital organs such as the heart, liver, and kidneys. The drug can be deadly if use continues.

Treatment for Heroin addiction is deigned to help the user stop taking the drug which will hopefully mean that his or her physical damage will repair itself with time. Also, since a long time Heroin user will likely have ruined his or her relationships with family and friends and have experienced other negative social , legal and career consequences from the addiction treatment is also designed to begin the process of restoring the person back into normal society. With time in recovery ,away from the drug , the former user can be restored to a hopeful state of mind and body.

The Rehab Center is an addiction treatment rehab facility which can help the Heroin addict find freedom from the addiction. Rehab helps people in the recovery process from this addiction as we start to case manage the addict right from the beginning during the detoxification process, known to be the hardest phase during heroin addiction treatment.

Heroin addiction rehab is a place of healthy re entry back into normal life. Recovery provides a sp

iritual environment for the recovering person to meditate, relax, and learn why he or she has sought drug use as an escape from life. Someone in treatment at a drug rehab will receive one-on-one, group, and family counseling with the goal being to restore this person back to a healthy normal life, restoring relationships with their loved ones, accepting behaviors, consequences and actions of the past, and being inspired by the struggles and triumphs of other addicts in recovery.

The Academy for Addiction Professionals

Rockers In Recovery News Media Website

The American Psychological Association released a recent study in their journal Psychology of Addictive Behaviors showing that up to half of addiction counselors deem it acceptable to allow alcohol abusing clients to have an occasional drink. This is a significant increase from about twenty years ago when a similar survey showed only one quarter of counselors willing to allow some alcohol use. With drugs of abuse, a similar number of counselors believed it was acceptable to allow moderate drug use as a step toward their ultimate treatment goal.

It is important to note that when counselors were asked if they would condone some drug or alcohol use in those diagnosed with dependence issues, far fewer did.

It may seem shocking that such a high proportion of counselors believe that some drug or alcohol use during treatment is acceptable, but there are many and varied treatment philosophies employed across the country and the world. Indeed, the level of openness to moderate substance use during treatment was much higher in some other countries around the world including the UK.

DO NOT GAMBLE WITH YOUR RECOVERY

Rockers In Recovery® – Media
Therapeutic CornerEvery week I am contacted by people dealing with problems created by their gambling. Most of them have lost everything and are trying to figure out what happened to their lives. All are in deep financial trouble and many are facing criminal charges. Some are contemplating suicide. Compulsive gambling has the highest suicide rate of all addictions. There are two reasons which allow the gambler to get so lost in his addiction. First, compulsive gambling is known as the hidden addiction. There are no outward manifestations. There is no odor, no staggering, no slurred speech. People do not realize a problem is starting to consume a loved one or a friend until it is too late. Second, as long as the gambler has a token, the gambler has hope. The gambler will only seek help when all the money is gone.

A large number of gamblers have one other thing in common; they are in recovery from substance abuse. Many in this group have been clean and sober and in a twelve step program for many years. The last two people who contacted me both had an active gambling addiction, one with eight and the other with fifteen years of recovery.

Gambling is an insidious addiction. A person predisposed to develop a gambling problem may spend years gambling socially and suffering minimal ill effects. But that person will eventually cross the line into a full blown addiction. The chains of addiction are too weak to be felt until they are too strong to be broken. The devastation we gamblers leave in our wake can take a lifetime to recover from. Relationships are often fatally destroyed because of the betrayal of trust by the compulsive gambler.

Studies have shown that between 12% and 20% of substance abusers in inpatient rehab programs also have a co-occurring gambling problem. We should start treating this group immediately. This can be accomplished by implementing an aftercare program to specifically offer treatment for a gambling problem.

I conducted a survey of substance abuse patients at Brighton Hospital in Brighton, Michigan. I screened 8,000 substance abusers, primarily alcoholics, for a gambling problem. Sixteen percent of the patients screened identified as having a problem. What was more interesting was that the majority of the remaining eighty-four percent did not gamble at all. The reason for this turned out to be quite simple. The addiction that brought them into the hospital was working just fine. They did not need another addiction at that time. Unfortunately it is this group that, after treatment for substance abuse, will trade their substance abuse addiction for a gambling addiction. They leave their alcoholism or drug abuse at the hospital and walk down the street and find a new addiction to replace it.

This is a large group of people who are predisposed to problem gambling and, at the same time, the most economical and easy to treat. All we have to do is educate them about the dangers of gambling, just as we currently educate alcoholics about the dangers of other substances. The theme should be addiction is addiction is addiction. Education should lead to well informed and appropriate choices for the person in recovery.

Another area that holds great promise is educating people in recovery in the twelve step programs. There is a need to start discussions relating to gambling and other process addictions. Members need to be warned of the devastation that gambling can cause a person in recovery. I am deeply saddened by the hundreds of gamblers coming out of twelve step programs who have lost most of what they had gained back while in that program because of a lack of knowledge about gambling addiction. The message is simple. If you are in recovery, do not gamble. If you need help for a gambling problem, contact me at burkemichaelj@yahoo.com.

Creativity and Addiction Recovery

Rockers In Recovery® – Media

Creativity and Addiction Recovery

The human brain is built for creativity. No fewer than eleven areas of our brains collaborate when we create, networking instantly to build new visions in our heads, and to help us express those visions in whatever way works for us. And it feels so good! When we create, our brains pump out endorphins, rewarding us for exploring and expressing. This feeling of accomplishment is a wonderful thing, as is the sense of freedom and fulfillment that’s also part of the deal. In a very real sense, creativity is our birthright; we only need to take the action.

Musicians create music, but listening to music is a creative process, too. We each experience and interpret music in our own way. You might move to the music, swaying in your seat or swirling and dancing in free-form self expression.Tapping on a table, you are soon performing your own drum solo. Head bobbing, you visualize colors or pictures that your inventive brain conjures. Maybe your interpretation is more actively visual, as doodles or splashes of paint dance across the canvas of your choice.

We can also use our creativity in purely practical ways, some of which may even save our lives. As recovering people, cravings are not unknown to us, especially early on. Guaranteed relief can be had by switching our thoughts and actions to something creative, even if we don’t feel like it. Especially if we don’t feel like it. Taking that action moves your brain activity from the craving-filled “addiction box”, as the limbic system is sometimes called, to the network of creative, feel-good sites that get fired up when we start to use our imaginations.

So you say you’re not creative — of course you are! Just imagine trying to survive the challenges of active addiction without creativity. Who is more creative than an addict chasing a high? I’ll bet you were pretty inventive, at times! Creativity can be found in many forms, and none of them require perfection. Move to the music. Have fun, be free! Take a pottery class. Sing in the shower. Really loud! Make a collage. Learn to play a musical instrument. Write in your journal. Write poetry, silly or profound. Finger-paint!

Gardening is a creative activity. So is cooking. You could buy or make something new to decorate your living space. Decorate yourself. Take up beading or woodworking. Read a book and envision the characters, locations and action. Planning an outing for yourself or with a few friends can activate your imagination. Tell stories around a campfire and eat s’mores. Play charades. Play Pictionary. Plan a road trip. Paint the kitchen. Go to a concert with other recovering people.

Creativity is about taking small emotional risks when that voice inside says, “Be cool. Don’t get involved.” It’s about taking action that changes your thinking and helps you grow and cope — that helps you find your true self, your happy self.  It’s about bypassing perfectionism to find joy.  Rock on!!

Making An Impact on Recovery

Rockers In Recovery News Media Website

The Impact Society What is a better way to make an impact during the winter season than getting out and having fun in recovery on March 21, 2014 for The Impact Society’s annual fundraiser in Towson, Maryland, at Kraushaar Auditorium, Goucher College.  Rockers In Recovery (sponsored by Sunrise Detox and The Impact Society) is helping The Impact Society put FUN back into FUNdraiser.

Recovery isn’t just about sustaining your own sobriety but also preventing and educating people about living life without resorting to drugs and alcohol.  Making music with a message of hope while helping to give awareness and support to others is what making an impact in recovery is all about.

The Impact Society is a non-profit organization that combines prevention, intervention, and recovery services.  All proceeds will be going toward The Impact Society’s Recovery Houses, Recovery Coaching, and Youth Education.

This night will begin with a meet and greet at 7 p.m., for VIP ticket holders, prior to the concert where featured artists from RIR All-Star band will be present, along with The Impact Society band.  Anyone can be a VIP by purchasing the VIP tickets.  Regular ticket prices for the concert only will be $25, VIP tickets are $65.  Tickets are on sale click here.  Getting a chance to meet and speak with band members who support recovery is a gift in itself because it shows that having fun is possible without using drugs and alcohol.

The concert will begin at 8 p.m. until 11 p.m. and will present singers and bands, Tony Denikos, Fall in the Saddle band, Impact Society band and RIR All-Star band.  This concert will be the last performance with the old faces of the RIR All-Star band, thus beginning new performers while carrying the message of hope and support to people in recovery.

The Impact Society Danny Brannon, founder and CEO of The Impact Society is also a bass player and songwriter for The Impact Society band.  Mr. Brannon’s vision and message is, “drugs and thugs are out and community service, education, and leadership are in.”

Mr. Brannon’s inspiration for creating The Impact Society is, “To use music and recovery as a way to prevent others to go down that road,” because of his tumultuous road in addiction that spanned from childhood to adulthood.  Mr. Brannon is dedicated in supporting and educating as many people he can.

According to Mr. Brannon, the message of the event is about educating and influencing the general public about the importance of education and intervention of the programs, services, and resources that are available to everyone.  People do not have to suffer with addiction when there are supportive options to everyone, regardless of financial situation.

Debbie Dauer, co-founder and board of director of The Impact Society, “We want to have a fun event that is clean and sober in our community.”

All proceeds from this fundraiser go to the recovery houses and towards education.

Impact Recovery Houses are dedicated in supporting recovering alcoholics and addicts in early recovery. They provide affordable, structured living with opportunities for personal growth, renewed health, and building a solid recovery foundation.

The Impact Society believes that today’s young leaders have the power to create a New Youth Culture.  The Impact Society educates students that will help them to prevent risky behavior and make wise decisions about substance abuse, teen pregnancy, bullying, teen suicide, absenteeism.

Last Show For The Old RIR All Star Band Crew

March 21,2014 will be the last show for the Old RIR All Star Band Crew.  I strongly see that after the last couple of weeks that RIR has to in-act new By-Laws that the new RIR-All  Star Band  leadership and rotation are important principles for RIR to run under.

The festivals and events are payed by Rockers In Recovery Radio and Productions Inc. and the financial backing of Recovery Partners like; Clearbrook Treatment Centers of Pennsylvania ,The Shores Treatment and Recovery of Florida and Atlantic Biotech of New Jersey to name a few who truly want to give back to communities they serve.

Through the Recovery Radio Partners we get to provide free community education and information on help for addiction. Simply put Rockers In Recovery Festivals and Events is where Recovery Education & Rock-N-Roll Come Together.

So once a year every December, we will chose a new RIR Band Director and members. RIR will not pay outrageous money ever again as we did to the following performers for 2 years and 12 shows ;  Ricky Byrd (Joan Jett), Liberty DeVitto (Billy Joel), Richie Supa (Aerosmith), Kasim Sulton ( Todd Rundgren), Christine Ohlman (SNL Band), and Mark Stein (Vanilla Fudge). Total Cost per performance to RIR was $18,000.00.

We will also be voting on new RIR Administration directors every 2 years also in December. RIR is not about personality’s it’s about hope and help for the still sick and suffering addict. RIR is also about  that addiction treatment and education mixed with “HAVING FUN” in recovery is indeed possible!!

In The Spirit Of Rotation our new by-law  will start with the RIR All Star Band New lineup.
